Ireland - Is officially known as the Republic of Ireland. Ireland is a European Country and is an island nation that shares borders with Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom and shares sea borders with the North Atlantic Ocean, the Irish Sea, the Celtic Sea and St George's Channel. In 1921 the southern 26 counties declared independence from the United Kingdom while the northern 6 counties remained part of the United Kingdom. Per capita Gross Domestic Product is 40% above that of the four big European economies and the second highest in the European Union behind Luxembourg, and in 2007 surpassed that of the United States.
Celtic tribes arrived on the island between 600-150 B.C.
