Denmark
Denmark - Is officially known as The Kingdom of Denmark. Denmark is a European Country and shares borders with Germany, the North Sea, Skaggerak (bay area), Kattegat (bay area) and the Baltic Sea, these waters are also known as the Danish straits. Denmark joined NATO in 1949 and the EEC (now the EU) in 1973. However, the country has opted out of certain elements of the European Union's Maastricht Treaty, including the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), European defense cooperation, and issues concerning certain justice and home affairs. Because of high Gross Domestic Product per capita, welfare benefits, a low Gini index, and political stability, the Danish living standards are among the highest in the world. A major long-term issue will be the sharp decline in the ratio of workers to retirees.
The earliest archaeological findings in Denmark date back to 130,000 –110,000 BC. Denmark was once the seat of Viking raiders. People have inhabited Denmark since about 12,500 BC and agriculture has been in evidence since 3,900 BC.
