Croatia

Croatia - Is officially known as the Republic of Croatia. Croatia is a European Country and shares borders with Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Adriatic Sea. Offshore Croatia consists of over one thousand islands varying in size. The largest islands in Croatia are Cres and Krk which are located in the Adriatic Sea. Although Croatia declared its independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, it took four years of sporadic, but often bitter, fighting before occupying Serb armies were mostly cleared from Croatian lands. Croatia is a candidate for membership of the European Union and a NATO, it is already a member of the United Nations. Croatia's economic fortunes have begun to improve slowly, with moderate but steady Gross Domestic Product growth between 4% and 6% led by a rebound in tourism and credit-driven consumer spending.
