Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Is officially known as Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a European Country and share borders with Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina is nearly surrounded by other countries, except for 26 kilometres of coastline on the Adriatic Sea. The government is comprised of two entities roughly equal in size: the Bosniak/Croat Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian Serb-led Republika Srpska (RS). The Federation and RS governments were charged with overseeing most government functions. Bosnia and Herzegovina gained its independence during the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. Bosnia and Herzegovina can be described as a federal democratic republic that is transforming its economy into a market-oriented system, and it is a potential candidate for membership in the European Union and NATO. Bosnia and Herzegovina ranked next to Macedonia as the poorest republic in the old Yugoslav federation. Although agriculture is almost all in private hands, farms are small and inefficient, and the republic traditionally is a net importer of food. The private sector is growing and foreign investment is slowly increasing, but government spending, at nearly 40% of adjusted Gross Domestic Product, remains unreasonably high. Bosnia has been inhabited at least since the Neolithic age. In the early Bronze Age, the Neolithic population was replaced by more warlike Indo-European tribes
